Impact of the COVID-19 and Pandemic Response on Hepatitis C

Heading placeholder

This initiative is a part of the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Health project

As a result of the rapid spread of COVID-19 in 2020, countries across the world, including Canada, implemented various public health measures to curb COVID-19 transmission among the population such as minimizing contact between people with and people without COVID-19.

These restrictions have greatly disrupted various healthcare services such as Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) prevention, testing, treatment and post-treatment follow-up. Limited information is available in Canada to understand the barriers and facilitators to HCV care during the COVID-19 pandemic, nor the impact of this disruption on progress towards achieving the World Health Organization’s goals of eliminating of HCV by 2030.

—Health Care Providers (HCP) Focus Group Discussion

To understand the barriers and facilitators that health care providers had experienced while delivering HCV-related health care services during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are conducting a focus group with health care providers who had and are delivering HCV-related health care and support services during the pandemic.

You will receive $50 as compensation for your time and participation. As a health care provider delivering HCV-related health care and support services during the pandemic, you are invited to participate in the focus group by e-mailing us at Analytics.PH@ubc.ca.

—Health Care Providers (HCP) Survey

To understand the barriers and facilitators that health care providers had experienced while delivering HCV-related health care services during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have co-designed a survey with health care provider groups.
